Holly DeNeve

Attorney
(She/Her) · Elkhart, Indiana

Holly DeNeve is an Indiana attorney whose legal career has been firmly grounded in child welfare law. For over 10 years, she served with the Indiana Department of Child Services, managing sensitive, complex cases that affected the lives of children and families, particularly in St. Joseph County. Her work was defined by consistent preparation, calm professionalism, and a strong commitment to doing what was right for those she served, often without recognition. Holly graduated from New Prairie High School in 2004 and earned her degree in political science with a minor in environmental studies in 2008, graduating magna cum laude. She went on to complete her Juris Doctor in 2011 and passed the Indiana Bar Exam later that year. From the start of her legal journey, she chose a path of public service, focusing on helping those in vulnerable positions rather than seeking opportunities in private practice. Holly began her career at the Department of Child Services as a temporary legal assistant before becoming a full-time staff attorney in St. Joseph County. Her work involved handling a variety of child welfare cases, including children in need of services, adoptions, guardianships, and termination of parental rights. Her responsibilities included drafting motions, preparing discovery, conducting witness interviews, and representing clients in court. Her steady approach and reliability made her a trusted figure in the legal process. Holly worked closely with caseworkers, judges, and prosecutors while staying up to date on developments in statutory and case law. Her knowledge and communication skills led to invitations to present at several continuing legal education seminars. In 2016, she briefly stepped away from the department but returned within a few months, continuing her service until September 2025, a decision that reflected her deep commitment to the work. Outside her legal duties, she and her husband supported community programs through donations and involvement in causes that foster children, support schools, and strengthen families. Her earlier experience assisting domestic violence survivors during law school strengthened her belief in accessible legal support. Holly DeNeve now plans to establish a solo practice focused on mediation, guardian ad litem work, and child protection, continuing her dedication to serving others through the law.
