I am a professor in the Department of Fish Wildlife and Conservation Biology at New Mexico State University. My training (at California State University - Fresno and at the University of Washington) includes field biology, entomology, and theoretical ecology. My current research focuses on applications of ecological risk assessment, and on stochastic ecological simulation models at the interface of population ecology and landscape ecology. I also teach courses on population ecology, ecological biometry, research methods in natural resource science, and environmental risks and decisions; my teaching emphasizes both “doing science” and “thinking science”. I have struggled with productivity and time-management issues throughout my career, and like to share what I have learned. My other interests include camping, hiking, and playing keyboards in a classic-rock band called Dry Ground.
