In addition to her studies, she was involved in varsity basketball, track and field, diving, student council, theater, and ballet, demonstrating her diverse interests and leadership. Dr. Egloff continued her education at the University of Michigan, earning a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology. This laid the foundation for her professional career, beginning at Warner-Lambert Parke-Davis. There, she worked on molecular cloning and small-molecule inhibitors to address cancer and metabolic diseases. Her contributions were recognized through employee awards, affirming the value of her work in advancing biomedical research. Her growing interest in disease mechanisms led Dr. Egloff to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Her research focused on immune cell signaling pathways, crucial for understanding how the body responds to various diseases. After earning her PhD, she continued her research at the National Human Genome Research Institute, where she conducted postdoctoral work on cancer-causing gene mutations. Her work in this area earned her recognition for its significant contributions to cancer genetics. Dr. Egloff further expanded her career at the University of Pittsburgh by joining an NIH/NCI-sponsored Cancer Education and Career Development Program. She worked on translating research findings into clinical applications, particularly focused on personalized cancer treatments.
