Doctor Zen

The Olympic Peninsula

I am a retired Radiologist, currently serving a mission in Indiana as Area Medical Advisor for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My most recent book, GROWING UP TOUGH, is a fictional re-telling of stories my father told about growing up in Price, Utah, during the Great Depression. Previous books include TURNING THE HEARTS (a collection of essays and other writings), ALL ENLISTED (a memoir about my mission in Austria during the Vietnam War), THE FEDERALIST: EXCERPTS WITH COMMENTARY, and two short novels, THE TRILLIUM GIRL and CHRONICLE OF THE LAKE. All are available at Amazon. Besides medicine and reminiscing, interests include history, religion, anthropology, and family history. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, life has taken me to Utah, Austria, California, Washington D.C., and a variety of places in between; like people, every place is wonderful in its own way. I have six children, ten grandchildren, and a generous, loving wife. Our family motto is “Be Useful for Good.”
