Blanche Evans

Blanche Evans, portraits in oils Blanche Evans paints exclusively in oils on canvas, in a soft-focus realistic style. By combining classical realism with pop art chroma, Blanche’s portraits of people, animals and still life are saturated with color, light, and shadow. Each Blanche Evans painting is a statement piece designed to evoke shared memories and popular dreams and fantasies, with a whimsical, humorous touch. Long-forgotten toys, tarnished trinkets and outmoded inventions found in garage sales and on the internet are brought to new life in compelling still life portraits, before they wobble their way into oblivion. Barbie dolls indulge their shoe fetishes as covetously as the most material of women. Cheetahs, elephants and zebras change places with children, celebrating with balloons on the Serengeti. And then there are the dogs. Blanche’s captures the beauty, intelligence and personality of each dog she paints, taking each brushstroke as seriously as if she were painting a White House portrait of a president. Blanche does many portraits on commission. She is often hard at work in her studio preparing the gift of portraiture as a birthday or wedding gift from one loved one to another. Trained at the Creative Arts Center in Dallas, Blanche’s work has been featured in juried shows in Dallas and Tulsa. Blanche’s work is featured at the Mary Tomas Studio Gallery in Dallas, Texas.
